Today I will show you through this post what is technical SEO and what are its advantages? Read the whole post, because I will discuss the very important technical SEO factors.

What is Technical SEO?

Technical SEO is a process through which we optimize the technical SEO factors of a website. When we optimize the technical SEO factors of the site properly, the search engines will be able to crawl and index the site properly. This increases the chances of ranking in Google.

What are the advantages of technical SEO?

The most important factor in ranking a website depends on technical SEO. I will discuss step by step, then you will understand, why technical SEO is important?

#1. Properly crawling & indexing

As I said before, the main point of the technical SEO factor is crawling and indexing. And you know that if Google doesn’t index your posts, no article will be submitted to Google’s search engine. For that, you have to go to the Google search console and submit the website, that too correctly.

Not only Google search engine, but also all the other search engines have to submit correctly. For example- Bing search engine, Yandex webmaster tools, etc. To see if all the pages or posts of your site are indexed, search like this- site:https://yourdomainname.com

#2. The sitemap for Easy Access

Friends, there are two types of sitemaps – XML sitemap and HTML sitemap. When we provide these two sitemaps to search engines, search engines and users have access to the entire website.

#3. Faster Web Page Loading

If the technical SEO of the site is done properly, the loading speed of the site will also increase. You need to pay close attention to this, go to Google Page Insights and GTmetrics site, and check the speed of your site. The higher the loading speed of your site, the higher the chances of your site ranking.

#4. Dead Link Optimization

You’ve published a lot of posts, so links to those posts are stored on the site. Next time for some reason you delete a few links or change the link. In this case, if someone does not want to access the old link, addition, a 404 error occurs.

Such problematic URLs or links are called dead links or broken links, all of these links are very harmful to your site. When you do technical SEO, you can also optimize all these dead links or remove them dead links properly. To check for dead links on your site, click here.

#5. Secured Website

In order to rank a website, you must know how important it is to secure the website. When we do technical SEO, it must be checked. That means the site is opening with HTTP or opening with HTTPS.

If open your site with HTTPS, then your site is secure. If open with HTTP, you must use an SSL certificate, to secure the site. In some cases, the SSL certificate is available at the time of purchase of the domain, if not, you can use the free SSL of Cloudflare.

#6. Canonical Issues

Canonical issues are usually caused by URLs, suppose you changed the URL of a post. But the URL of that post was different when the post was created. The Google search engine has already indexed that old URL.

The next time you change the URL of that post, it is also indexed by Google. So understand, your post is the same but the two URLs of that post are indexed in Google, which is why this canonical issue appears on your site.

This is also considered a big SEO mistake. For this you need to do canonicalization, you will do proper technical SEO, and this issue will be fixed.

#7. Robots.txt

Each site must submit a robots.txt file that allows you to control indexing. This means that with this file you can allow search engines to index any pages or posts.

On the other hand, if you think you can prevent indexing a page or post, you can. One thing to keep in mind, everything on a site cannot be indexed.

This can lead to many problems, such as you indexing both tags and posts at the same time, which can lead to duplicate content issues. Moreover, what do you want? If any of your personal details are indexed by Google, of course not. E.g. wp-admin.

#8. W3C Validation

W3C is usually an organization, that optimizes the whole site. Through this, we can check the site and find out whether the coding of the site is valid or not. You will see below of many sites, it is mentioned “this site is validated by W3C”, meaning that the site has been validated by w3c.

#9. Mobile Friendly

Your site must be mobile-friendly, that is, the site must be properly opened on mobile. It has been seen that there are many sites that do not open properly on mobile even if the site is fully open on the desktop. This is mainly due to your theme, so be sure to try a mobile-friendly theme.

#10. Redirection

Here redirection means, HTTP to HTTPS and www to non-www. This is also a big factor in technical SEO, the issue for which your site will never rank.

If your site opens separately according to the URL above, then you understand that your site has not been redirected properly. That way if you open a site with a different URL, Google doesn’t have a site for you.

#11. Permalink Structure

The permalink you create on your website must be SEO Friendly permalink. E.g. https://yourdomainname.com/postname. But remember – if your site is old, that means you have published many posts.

In this case, you can not change the permalink structure. Because the previous links will change, and they will be a 404 error.

If you have fewer posts, there will be no effect or you can manually redirect them to the new URL. If there are more posts, redirecting them will be a little difficult.

#12. 404 Redirection

Manually redirected 404 pages that you know. But you know what? There are some 404 error links on your site that are unknown to you. Find them, and redirect them to specific pages.

You can redirect automatically if you want, which means that whenever a 404 link appears on your site, it will be redirected to the homepage immediately. If you use Rank Math plugin, you can do it easily.

#13. Search Console Coverage Issues

By submitting a sitemap to the Google search engine, you think all your posts or articles will be indexed. But you don’t know that for some reason some of your articles could not be indexed.

For this, you will often visit the search console and check the coverage section. If you see a link to a post or page in the coverage section, re-index them.
