Facebook Inc., the world’s most popular social media, has changed its name. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new name ‘Meta’ on Thursday. From now on the company will conduct all business activities under this name.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the social media platform, has unveiled a plan to create an online world called ‘Metaverse’ with this new name. Where people will be able to play games and communicate, as well as perform various tasks using VR headsets in virtual environments.
He says, “What we are doing and will do in the future, the current brand is probably not able to present. So change is needed.”
Mark Zuckerberg said in a virtual conference, “I hope, over time, we will be seen as a metaverse company. And our work and identity will be based on what we are going to create in the future.”
“We see this existing business as two different parts,” he said. One is for our app users and the other is for working on future platforms. ‘
After the name change, various international media reported that even though the name of the original organization has been changed, the name of the Facebook app is not being changed. Facebook will be the name of an app under the new name that the company is launching.
Officials at the company say that Facebook Inc. currently has multiple platforms, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, so it is not advisable for the parent company to be named Facebook.
For this, the name of the original organization has been changed. Much like Google. The name of the original company is Google Alphabet, so the name was changed to Facebook.
